The prime objective of this trek is reach Quebrada Jancarurish, a place from which to view Alpamayo, considered to be one of the most beautiful mountains on the planet and the winner of a photography competition in Munich in 1996. Amongst the highlights we have the lakes of Cullicocha y Jancarurish, the mountains Santa Cruz, Quitaraju, Jancarurish and the valley Los Cedros with its unique geographical form, its streams, flora and fauna.
This trek lasts 6 days, is of moderate difficulty and involves crossing high passes at 4750m and 4850m. Prior acclimatization is required before undertaking this trek.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Huaraz (3 100 m.) – Huishcash (4 050 m.). Via Caraz Hualcallan (3 140 m.).
Day 2: Huishcash – Osoruri (4 400 m.). crossing high pass at 4850m.
Day 3: Osoruri – Jancarurish (3 800 m.). crossing high pass at 4750m.
Day 4: Jancarurish – Hike to the view point of Alpamayo and return to camp.
Day 5: Jancarurish – Osoruri. (high pass at 4750m).
Day 6: Osoruri – Huaraz. (high pass at 4850m) Return to Huaraz via Hualcallan, Caraz.
